Tom Mertens was appointed the New Raymer director in January 1985 when Orville Knoll resigned. He served as a director until 1997 when he was elected as Vice President then in 2002 he was elected President. Tom is the New Raymer area director. Tom and his wife, Shirley have four children, Greg, Brad, Ryan and Allison, and two granddaughters. Tom farms in the New Raymer area along with his two brothers. When he is not farming, Tom enjoys scuba diving, swimming and water skiing. He is a past member of the Prairie Young Framers, New Raymer-Stoneham Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge 1336 in Sterling. He is also a member of the Prince of Peace Episcopal Church where he serves on the Bishops Committee and as Senior Warden.
Todd Wickstrom was elected to fill the position vacated by Orlando Hill in March of 1993. He served as a director until he was elected Vice President in 1999. He is the director for the Briggsdale area. Todd grew up in the Orchard area and attended Weldona High School and Colorado State University. He farms along with his father and brother. Their primary crops are wheat, dry land corn and millet. He also has some cattle. Todd has a son named Kyle. When he is not farming or with his son, he enjoys boating, water skiing, motorcycle riding, attending CSU football games and watching NASCAR racing. He is a member of the Wheat Growers, the Fort Morgan Young Farmer Organization and the Colorado Conservation Tillage Association.
Susan Pope was elected to the board at the annual meeting in March of 1995 replacing Alan Harmon. She served as a director until 2005 when she was elected as Secretary of the Board. Susan is one of the Wiggins area directors. She and her husband, Duane have two children, Shannon and Derek. They enjoy farming and have a truck farm where they produce many vegetables for the Farmer's Markets. She also enjoys sports activities and being with their children.
Charlie Romero was elected in March of 1989 replacing Randall Bender. He served as a director until 1996 when he was elected to the Treasurer's position. Charlie is one of the Wiggins area directors. Charlie and wife, Kim live on a farm south of Wiggins and have two boys, Marcus and Michael. His main crops are corn, wheat, and alfalfa. Charlie enjoys watching sports and traveling to Greenwich, NY to see his in-laws. He is a member and deacon at the Summit Baptist Church and has been a school bus driver for the Wiggins Schools for a number of years.
Ron Anderson, one of our newest Wiggins area directors, was elected to serve on the Board at the 2005 Annual Meeting, replacing Leroy Kerksiek. Ron and his wife, Vi have lived in Wiggins for over 35 years. They moved here after Ron completed his service of eight years in the US Air Force. They have two daughters, Kathy and Teresa, who graduated from Wiggins High School. Ron worked for the Association for 35 years as a lineman and Plant Manager. He enjoys time with his five grandchildren, camping, fishing, and coin collecting.
Mary Sachs was appointed by the Board to fill the position that became open after Kenneth Anderson resigned to become a Morgan County Commissioner in January 2005. Mary and her husband, Bob have lived in Wiggins for 30 years. They have two children, Heather and Sean. Mary has retired from her teaching career where she taught elementary students for 21 years and was a junior high coach for 9 years. She enjoys substitute teaching, gardening and home improvement projects.
Mike Midcap was appointed by the Board in December 2003 to fill the position that became open when Ty Kjelgaard moved from our serving area. Mike is one of the Wiggins area directors. He grew up on a farm south of Wiggins. Mike, along with his brothers and nephew, are farming the family farm. He has also been in the certified wheat seed business since 1975. Mike and his wife, Linda are the parents of three children, Sarah, Beth and Luke. They also have four grand children. Mike serves as president of the Wiggins Weed District and is on the Board of the Hoyt cemetery. When he is not farming or serving on a Board, he enjoys hunting and fishing.
Kenneth Everitt was elected in March of 1988 replacing Calvin Werner. He is the director for the Grover exchange. Kenny and his wife, Penny have two children, Carlos (deceased) and Andrea. He also has two grandchildren. Kenny farms south of Grover and has a cattle operation. His main crops are dry land wheat and irrigated alfalfa.
Robert Hill was appointed as Director at Large by the Board of Directors in January of 1999. He represents all four of the Association's exchanges. Bob grew up in the Briggsdale area, attended the Briggsdale School and graduated from the New Raymer High School. After High School, he served two years in the US Army. He then worked for an electrical supply company and managed stores in Greeley and Fort Collins. Bob now devotes all of his time to farming and ranching in the Briggsdale area. Bob has two sons, Brian and Steve, and five grandchildren. Besides spending time with his children and grandchildren, he enjoys hunting and fishing.
