Speed Calling (8 or 30)
Now you can call emergency or frequently dialed numbers just by dialing one or two numbers.
This capability includes long distance numbers.
You have a choice of selecting either short list of eight telephone numbers (Speed Calling 8) or a longer list of 30 telephone numbers (Speed Calling 30).
If you have selected Speed Calling 8, but want to be able to speed call more numbers, just call us and let us know. We'll change your service to Speed Calling 30.
Here's how to enter or change your speed calling list:
Assign a code for each number on your list.
If you have Speed Call 8, your codes go from 2 through 9. For Speed Call 30, pick codes 20 through 49.
To enter or change your Speed calling list, lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
Dial 7-4# (on rotary dial phones dial 7-4 and wait four seconds).
For Speed Call 30 dial 7-5# (on rotary dial phones dial 7-5 and wait four seconds). Listen for the second dial tone.
For Speed Call 8, dial one of the 8 one-digit speed numbers (2 through 9), for Speed Call 30, dial one of the 30 two-digit speed numbers (20 through 49). Then dial the number you wish to speed call.
(For long distance entries, remember to include the "1" and the area code).
After you've entered the number press the # button, (on rotary dial phones, omit this step and wait four seconds).
Listen for the two beeps, which indicate that your number has been entered.
Then hang up and repeat the procedure for additional numbers.
You may continue entering all the numbers on your list at this time or enter them one at a time later.
Remember to keep track of your Speed Calling Reference Numbers.
